WELCOME AT OUR DIGITAL TEMPLE'S DOOR
If you are a good man trying to be a better man
Dear Visitor, Dear Brother,
Welcome at the Earl Spencer Lodge No 1420 (ESL), in London.
As Worshipful Master of this old Lodge, I am delighted that you have chosen to visit these pages and hope you find them of interest.
Our lodge has been built on solid foundations, primarily due to the commitment, enthusiasm and diversity of our membership, who have contributed over the generations to make this wonderful lodge so special.
In order to develop our lodge further for future generations, we are looking for new candidates for joining who have inner depth and drive, energy, curiosity and the willingness to become part of the worlds greatest brotherhood.
If you feel this is you, and you are curious to find out more, we would love to hear from you.
S&F,
The WM of Earl Spencer Lodge No 1420

Our history
Since the Earl Spencer Lodge was formed and consecrated in 1873, much has happened. Founded in mid-Victorian times, it has by 1973 seen five monarchs pass (four deaths and one abdication) and is now in the reign of the sixth, our beloved Queen Elizabeth II.
It is interesting to look back and consider how the physical and social life of the Country has changed and expanded. Two great wars of world-wide dimensions have been fought, The British Empire, so proudly built by our forefathers has been Virtually dissolved in favour of a loosely knit Commonwealth, and much of the London which the founders knew, no longer exists. The very form of London's local government has been expanded and twice drastically changed since the days of the old “Vestries”.
Much more has happened, while ESL commitment to support men’s journey into Masonry kept steadfast.

WHEN OUR BRETHREN MEET
OFFICIAL MEETINGS
We meet 4 times per year
SOCIAL
Our Brethren have social gathering throughout the year
TEAMWORK
To strengthen the teamwork and friendship we meet further 8 to 12 times
AD HOC
We regularly visit other Lodges (nationally and internationally) and usually are joined by more Brethren

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Bro. Rudyard Kipling
